Opening of Brooklyn Bridge Park
The first phase of Brooklyn Bridge Park opened recently, still under construction but nonetheless impressive. GEE contributed to the design of the wetland piece that is now open to the public and we are excited to see the results. Pier 1 sits just south of the Brooklyn Bridge, and this New York Times article has nothing but praise for the design. Take a trip down to the site to see the park that is leading the waterfront revitalization movement in New York.

BuildBoston Workshop A47 - Landscape and Urbanism - 1:00 - 2:30 pm
Landscape urbanism, ecological urbanism, agricultural urbanism . . . all new branches (or nuanced branches) of thought that investigate the relationship of landscape architecture to sustainable contemporary urban design. With the recognition of global warming, dwindling resources, increased population and urbanization, there is a rapidly growing realization that we need to relearn how to design, and live in, our urban human (and other) habitat. This panel brings together a diverse group of landscape architects, urban designers, ecologists and planners to consider specific landscape frameworks and strategies that positively impact the structure, experience and longevity of our cities.
